| APPEARANCE
Debra is a thin, Caucasian woman. Her face is soft and somewhat long, with a big smile. Her hair is ever changing, going from one length to another (and in Season 3, even cutting off a lot of it) but typically remains light brown. Her overall body is thin but athletic, meaning she's capable of running down a perp when necessary rather than just drag behind. On the side of her stomach (right side) she has a scar where she was shot. Her attire is one of the most varied throughout the series. As soon as she's allowed into Homicide, she quickly adopts designer suits thus making her one of the best dressed officers in Homicide. Her suits change along with her hairstyle and most recently, she's dropped using a jacket and instead wears a long-sleeved button up shirt with dress pants and shoes. Her typical gear is a gun and badge, along with other possible devices such as a radio. Her at-home attire is very casual compared to her work clothing, usually consisting of T-shirts and bluejeans. |
PERSONALITY
Deb tends to portray a tough image to the outside word, or at least tries to with a number of different things such as they frequent curse words that come out of her mouth saying things like “Fuck me twice on Sunday’s” and “Fucking A!” Working in a mostly male dominated profession she’s able to become ‘one of the guys’ without much effort at all, fitting in with her colleagues easily and making her even better at her job. She is an extremely impulsive woman and when she feels an emotion she shows it on the outside without trying to hide what she’s feeling in any way. However, despite all of this and the strong image she tries to portray to the outside world it is also clear that Deb is a very sensitive and caring person and on more than one occasion it’s shown that she often feels extremely lonely. Family is extremely important to Deb and what her family think of her means everything. She became a police officer, the same career as her father because she was always seeking his approval and she just wanted him to be proud of her. She has such a high opinion of all of her family and when she finds out that her father might not exactly be all that he seemed she is completely devastated. During the beginning of her career in Homicide she was utterly unsure of herself, leaning on her foster brother Dexter for support. As time moves on she becomes more and more confident with her abilities to complete the job at hand and her real intelligence shines through. She has an extremely keen eye, meaning that she picks up on information that others might miss out and she is extremely loyal. When Deb is partnered up with someone and working alongside them she never lets them down…at least not if she can help it. Though Deb doesn’t actively go out of her way to cause trouble her foul mouth usually manages to achieve that pretty well. That’s what happens when pretty much every sentence contains a swear word. However, there are times when she is able to control that mouth of hers especially when there are children around. She makes sure not to swear around Dexter’s children or any of the children that come into the station. On occasion she also displays the fact that she has anger issues for example, threatening her partner Quinn when he calls her brother a ‘dweeb’. She is also often known to lose her temper with various suspects brought in for questioning. Deb can be a little naive when it comes to the law, thinking that it is always just and right which of course is not always the case. He brother has a completely different view to her and sometimes she has to admit that the law is not always perfect. Because of Deb’s loneliness she opens her heart up to men very easily though as time comes on she becomes more and more damaged as a result of this. She doesn’t tend to have much luck when choosing boyfriends either since her first boyfriend ended up being the infamous icetruck killer and tried to kill her himself. Special Agent Lundy, a man almost twice her age was killed. Seeing the man that she loved die right in front of her is something that has haunted Deb from then on and it’s something that still comes into her mind from time to time. Basically, she seems to have a talent for fucking her life up though she has always had her brother Dexter there to keep her grounded. She knows that without him she wouldn’t be the person that she is today. | ||
